According to the available documents, Sanandaj University of Higher Education, affiliated to Tarbiat Moalem University of Tehran, was founded in 1353 by Dr. Faridun Motademoziri, a politician and university professor. Sanandaj Teacher Training College has continued its educational activities. In 1369, an in-principle approval has been issued for the development of Sanandaj's teacher education faculty in the form of faculties of humanities, basic sciences, agricultural education and technical education and turning it into a comprehensive university, "University of Kurdistan".
Before the beginning of the new century, the University of Kurdistan is a comprehensive, education-oriented, research-oriented, entrepreneurial university, which in the form of an effective social institution with the aim of excellence in education and knowledge development, as one of the distinguished scientific authorities in the west of the country with regional and national interactions. and international through interaction with other institutions and in the same social context, by cultivating pious and capable scholars, it has established a historical responsibility for itself. As the parent university in Kurdistan province, this university has four main missions, which are:
